A recent example of a service job to keep critical machinery
 going involved a 60 tonne digger in a quarry that had severe water
contamination in the hydraulic oil.
Water content was measured at 6000 parts per million.
Hydraulic oil should ideally have less that 200 ppm.
After running an Oil Purifier on the system for a few days the water
content had dropped to below 80 parts per million.

         

The Oil Purifier used has internal pumps & is independent to the system being cleaned. The oil is pumped into a vacuum chamber that has a low temperature heater. Because of the vacuum the water in the oil boils at a low temperature so the additives in the oil are not affected. The water vapour is removed. The oil passes through a filter & is pumped back to the reservoir. An electronic water content meter monitors the water content.
